|
- Awing Window
- A window with a top hinged operating sash that swings out from the bottom
- Balance
- A block and tackle system used in the jamb liner of single and double hung windows to ease operation and hold open sash
- Casement Window
- A window that swings in or out on side hinges
- Clad
- Wood window and door parts which are covered with an extruded permanent colored aluminum jacket on the exterior side of the frame and sash
- Direct Set
- Glass is set directly into the frame of the window without sash
- Double Hung
- A window with movable upper and lower sashes that slide vertically past each other
- Egress
- Means by which a person exits a bedroom area through a window
- Emmissivity
- A measure of a surface's ability to emit long-wave infrared radiation or room temperature radiant heat energy
- Hazardous Location
- Proximity to doors, drains, stair landings, etc. requires tempering of glass units
- Sash Set
- Glass is set into an inside frame, operable or not before being fixed or set into jamb frame
- Single Hung
- A window with a moveable lower sash that slides vertically past the upper sash
- Slider
- A window that moves horizontally on a full width scale
- SDL
- Simulated divided light - glass openings are divided by bars attached to the glass on the in and out sides
- TDL
- True divided light - permanent stationary muntins and bars separate the glass in a window or door sash to give the sash two or more lites of glass
